Istighfar — Seeking Forgiveness
Among the most beloved deeds to Allah — the gate of repentance and return to Him
📿 Istighfar Formulas
أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللَّهَ الْعَظِيمَ الَّذِي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّومُ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ
I seek forgiveness from Allah the Magnificent, besides Whom there is no deity, the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting, and I repent to Him. — Whoever says this will be forgiven even if he fled from battle.

اللَّهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ، وَأَنَا عَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ، أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ عَلَيَّ، وَأَبُوءُ بِذَنْبِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي، فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ
O Allah, You are my Lord, none has the right to be worshipped except You. You created me and I am Your slave. I uphold Your covenant and promise as best I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favor upon me and I acknowledge my sin. Forgive me, for none forgives sins except You. (Sayyid al-Istighfar — whoever says it in the morning or evening with certainty and dies that day enters Paradise)
📖 رواه البخاري — سيد الاستغفار — من قاله صباحاً أو مساءً موقناً ومات من يومه دخل الجنة
رَبِّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَتُبْ عَلَيَّ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ التَّوَّابُ الرَّحِيمُ
My Lord, forgive me and accept my repentance, for You are the Ever-Relenting, the Merciful. — The Prophet ﷺ used to say it 100 times in a single sitting.

سُبْحَانَكَ اللَّهُمَّ وَبِحَمْدِكَ، أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ، أَسْتَغْفِرُكَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْكَ
Glory and praise be to You, O Allah. I bear witness that none has the right to be worshipped except You. I seek Your forgiveness and I repent to You. — This is the Kaffarah al-Majlis (expiation of the gathering).

✨ Virtues of Istighfar
🌧️ The Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever persists in seeking forgiveness, Allah will make for him a way out of every hardship, relief from every worry, and will provide for him from where he does not expect." — Abu Dawud
🌱 Allah said: "Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver. He will send rain upon you in continuing showers and extend your wealth and children…" — (Nuh:10-12)
💫 The Prophet ﷺ would seek forgiveness more than 70 times a day — even though Allah had forgiven his past and future sins. — Agreed upon
