بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَٰنِ الرَّحِيمِ
لَعَلَّكَ بَٰخِعٌۭ نَّفْسَكَ أَلَّا يَكُونُوا۟ مُؤْمِنِينَ 3
Perhaps, [O Muhammad], you would kill yourself with grief that they will not be believers.
Tafsir
26:3
إِن نَّشَأْ نُنَزِّلْ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ ءَايَةًۭ فَظَلَّتْ أَعْنَٰقُهُمْ لَهَا خَٰضِعِينَ 4
If We willed, We could send down to them from the sky a sign for which their necks would remain humbled.
Tafsir
26:4
وَمَا يَأْتِيهِم مِّن ذِكْرٍۢ مِّنَ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ مُحْدَثٍ إِلَّا كَانُوا۟ عَنْهُ مُعْرِضِينَ 5
And no revelation comes to them anew from the Most Merciful except that they turn away from it.

26:5
فَقَدْ كَذَّبُوا۟ فَسَيَأْتِيهِمْ أَنۢبَٰٓؤُا۟ مَا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَ 6
For they have already denied, but there will come to them the news of that which they used to ridicule.

26:6
أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ كَمْ أَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجٍۢ كَرِيمٍ 7
Did they not look at the earth - how much We have produced therein from every noble kind?
Tafsir
26:7
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ 8
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
Tafsir
26:8
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ 9
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.

26:9
وَإِذْ نَادَىٰ رَبُّكَ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱئْتِ ٱلْقَوْمَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ 10
And [mention] when your Lord called Moses, [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people -
Tafsir
26:10
قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ ۚ أَلَا يَتَّقُونَ 11
The people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear Allah?"
Tafsir
26:11
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ أَن يُكَذِّبُونِ 12
He said, "My Lord, indeed I fear that they will deny me
Tafsir
26:12
وَيَضِيقُ صَدْرِى وَلَا يَنطَلِقُ لِسَانِى فَأَرْسِلْ إِلَىٰ هَٰرُونَ 13
And that my breast will tighten and my tongue will not be fluent, so send for Aaron.
Tafsir
26:13
وَلَهُمْ عَلَىَّ ذَنۢبٌۭ فَأَخَافُ أَن يَقْتُلُونِ 14
And they have upon me a [claim due to] sin, so I fear that they will kill me."
Tafsir
26:14
قَالَ كَلَّا ۖ فَٱذْهَبَا بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ ۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّسْتَمِعُونَ 15
[Allah] said, "No. Go both of you with Our signs; indeed, We are with you, listening.
Tafsir
26:15
فَأْتِيَا فِرْعَوْنَ فَقُولَآ إِنَّا رَسُولُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ 16
Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds,
Tafsir
26:16
أَنْ أَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ 17
[Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'"
Tafsir
26:17
قَالَ أَلَمْ نُرَبِّكَ فِينَا وَلِيدًۭا وَلَبِثْتَ فِينَا مِنْ عُمُرِكَ سِنِينَ 18
[Pharaoh] said, "Did we not raise you among us as a child, and you remained among us for years of your life?

26:18
وَفَعَلْتَ فَعْلَتَكَ ٱلَّتِى فَعَلْتَ وَأَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ 19
And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful."
Tafsir
26:19
قَالَ فَعَلْتُهَآ إِذًۭا وَأَنَا۠ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ 20
[Moses] said, "I did it, then, while I was of those astray.
Tafsir
26:20
فَفَرَرْتُ مِنكُمْ لَمَّا خِفْتُكُمْ فَوَهَبَ لِى رَبِّى حُكْمًۭا وَجَعَلَنِى مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ 21
So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers.
Tafsir
26:21
وَتِلْكَ نِعْمَةٌۭ تَمُنُّهَا عَلَىَّ أَنْ عَبَّدتَّ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ 22
And is this a favor of which you remind me - that you have enslaved the Children of Israel?"
Tafsir
26:22
قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ وَمَا رَبُّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ 23
Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?"
Tafsir
26:23
قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ 24
[Moses] said, "The Lord of the heavens and earth and that between them, if you should be convinced."

26:24
قَالَ لِمَنْ حَوْلَهُۥٓ أَلَا تَسْتَمِعُونَ 25
[Pharaoh] said to those around him, "Do you not hear?"
Tafsir
26:25
قَالَ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ 26
[Moses] said, "Your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers."
Tafsir
26:26
قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَكُمُ ٱلَّذِىٓ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ لَمَجْنُونٌۭ 27
[Pharaoh] said, "Indeed, your 'messenger' who has been sent to you is mad."
Tafsir
26:27
قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْمَشْرِقِ وَٱلْمَغْرِبِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ ۖ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ 28
[Moses] said, "Lord of the east and the west and that between them, if you were to reason."

26:28
قَالَ لَئِنِ ٱتَّخَذْتَ إِلَٰهًا غَيْرِى لَأَجْعَلَنَّكَ مِنَ ٱلْمَسْجُونِينَ 29
[Pharaoh] said, "If you take a god other than me, I will surely place you among those imprisoned."

26:29
قَالَ أَوَلَوْ جِئْتُكَ بِشَىْءٍۢ مُّبِينٍۢ 30
[Moses] said, "Even if I brought you proof manifest?"
Tafsir
26:30
قَالَ فَأْتِ بِهِۦٓ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ 31
[Pharaoh] said, "Then bring it, if you should be of the truthful."
Tafsir
26:31
فَأَلْقَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ ثُعْبَانٌۭ مُّبِينٌۭ 32
So [Moses] threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent manifest.

26:32
وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِىَ بَيْضَآءُ لِلنَّٰظِرِينَ 33
And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white for the observers.
Tafsir
26:33
قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُۥٓ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَٰحِرٌ عَلِيمٌۭ 34
[Pharaoh] said to the eminent ones around him, "Indeed, this is a learned magician.
Tafsir
26:34
يُرِيدُ أَن يُخْرِجَكُم مِّنْ أَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِۦ فَمَاذَا تَأْمُرُونَ 35
He wants to drive you out of your land by his magic, so what do you advise?"
Tafsir
26:35
قَالُوٓا۟ أَرْجِهْ وَأَخَاهُ وَٱبْعَثْ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَٰشِرِينَ 36
They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers
Tafsir
26:36
يَأْتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَحَّارٍ عَلِيمٍۢ 37
Who will bring you every learned, skilled magician."
Tafsir
26:37
فَجُمِعَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ لِمِيقَٰتِ يَوْمٍۢ مَّعْلُومٍۢ 38
So the magicians were assembled for the appointment of a well-known day.
Tafsir
26:38
وَقِيلَ لِلنَّاسِ هَلْ أَنتُم مُّجْتَمِعُونَ 39
And it was said to the people, "Will you congregate
Tafsir
26:39
لَعَلَّنَا نَتَّبِعُ ٱلسَّحَرَةَ إِن كَانُوا۟ هُمُ ٱلْغَٰلِبِينَ 40
That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant?"
Tafsir
26:40
فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ قَالُوا۟ لِفِرْعَوْنَ أَئِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْرًا إِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ ٱلْغَٰلِبِينَ 41
And when the magicians arrived, they said to Pharaoh, "Is there indeed for us a reward if we are the predominant?"
Tafsir
26:41
قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ إِذًۭا لَّمِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ 42
He said, "Yes, and indeed, you will then be of those near [to me]."
Tafsir
26:42
قَالَ لَهُم مُّوسَىٰٓ أَلْقُوا۟ مَآ أَنتُم مُّلْقُونَ 43
Moses said to them, "Throw whatever you will throw."
Tafsir
26:43
فَأَلْقَوْا۟ حِبَالَهُمْ وَعِصِيَّهُمْ وَقَالُوا۟ بِعِزَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّا لَنَحْنُ ٱلْغَٰلِبُونَ 44
So they threw their ropes and their staffs and said, "By the might of Pharaoh, indeed it is we who are predominant."
Tafsir
26:44
فَأَلْقَىٰ مُوسَىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِىَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ 45
Then Moses threw his staff, and at once it devoured what they falsified.
Tafsir
26:45
فَأُلْقِىَ ٱلسَّحَرَةُ سَٰجِدِينَ 46
So the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah].
Tafsir
26:46
قَالُوٓا۟ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ 47
They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds,
Tafsir
26:47
قَالَ ءَامَنتُمْ لَهُۥ قَبْلَ أَنْ ءَاذَنَ لَكُمْ ۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ ٱلَّذِى عَلَّمَكُمُ ٱلسِّحْرَ فَلَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ ۚ لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَٰفٍۢ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ 49
[Pharaoh] said, "You believed Moses before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic, but you are going to know. I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will surely crucify you all."
Tafsir
26:49
قَالُوا۟ لَا ضَيْرَ ۖ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَ 50
They said, "No harm. Indeed, to our Lord we will return.
Tafsir
26:50
إِنَّا نَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لَنَا رَبُّنَا خَطَٰيَٰنَآ أَن كُنَّآ أَوَّلَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ 51
Indeed, we aspire that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we were the first of the believers."

26:51
۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَسْرِ بِعِبَادِىٓ إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ 52
And We inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants; indeed, you will be pursued."

26:52
فَأَرْسَلَ فِرْعَوْنُ فِى ٱلْمَدَآئِنِ حَٰشِرِينَ 53
Then Pharaoh sent among the cities gatherers
Tafsir
26:53
إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ لَشِرْذِمَةٌۭ قَلِيلُونَ 54
[And said], "Indeed, those are but a small band,
Tafsir
26:54
فَأَخْرَجْنَٰهُم مِّن جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَعُيُونٍۢ 57
So We removed them from gardens and springs
Tafsir
26:57
كَذَٰلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَٰهَا بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ 59
Thus. And We caused to inherit it the Children of Israel.
Tafsir
26:59
فَلَمَّا تَرَٰٓءَا ٱلْجَمْعَانِ قَالَ أَصْحَٰبُ مُوسَىٰٓ إِنَّا لَمُدْرَكُونَ 61
And when the two companies saw one another, the companions of Moses said, "Indeed, we are to be overtaken!"

26:61
قَالَ كَلَّآ ۖ إِنَّ مَعِىَ رَبِّى سَيَهْدِينِ 62
[Moses] said, "No! Indeed, with me is my Lord; He will guide me."
Tafsir
26:62
فَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنِ ٱضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ ٱلْبَحْرَ ۖ فَٱنفَلَقَ فَكَانَ كُلُّ فِرْقٍۢ كَٱلطَّوْدِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ 63
Then We inspired to Moses, "Strike with your staff the sea," and it parted, and each portion was like a great towering mountain.

26:63
وَأَنجَيْنَا مُوسَىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ 65
And We saved Moses and those with him, all together.
Tafsir
26:65
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ 67
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
Tafsir
26:67
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ 68
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
Tafsir
26:68
إِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَا تَعْبُدُونَ 70
When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?"
Tafsir
26:70
قَالُوا۟ نَعْبُدُ أَصْنَامًۭا فَنَظَلُّ لَهَا عَٰكِفِينَ 71
They said, "We worship idols and remain to them devoted."
Tafsir
26:71
قَالَ هَلْ يَسْمَعُونَكُمْ إِذْ تَدْعُونَ 72
He said, "Do they hear you when you supplicate?
Tafsir
26:72
قَالُوا۟ بَلْ وَجَدْنَآ ءَابَآءَنَا كَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَ 74
They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus."
Tafsir
26:74
قَالَ أَفَرَءَيْتُم مَّا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ 75
He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping,
Tafsir
26:75
فَإِنَّهُمْ عَدُوٌّۭ لِّىٓ إِلَّا رَبَّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ 77
Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds,
Tafsir
26:77
وَٱلَّذِى هُوَ يُطْعِمُنِى وَيَسْقِينِ 79
And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink.
Tafsir
26:79
وَٱلَّذِى يُمِيتُنِى ثُمَّ يُحْيِينِ 81
And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life
Tafsir
26:81
وَٱلَّذِىٓ أَطْمَعُ أَن يَغْفِرَ لِى خَطِيٓـَٔتِى يَوْمَ ٱلدِّينِ 82
And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense."
Tafsir
26:82
رَبِّ هَبْ لِى حُكْمًۭا وَأَلْحِقْنِى بِٱلصَّٰلِحِينَ 83
[And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous.
Tafsir
26:83
وَٱجْعَل لِّى لِسَانَ صِدْقٍۢ فِى ٱلْءَاخِرِينَ 84
And grant me a reputation of honor among later generations.
Tafsir
26:84
وَٱجْعَلْنِى مِن وَرَثَةِ جَنَّةِ ٱلنَّعِيمِ 85
And place me among the inheritors of the Garden of Pleasure.
Tafsir
26:85
وَٱغْفِرْ لِأَبِىٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ ٱلضَّآلِّينَ 86
And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray.
Tafsir
26:86
وَلَا تُخْزِنِى يَوْمَ يُبْعَثُونَ 87
And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected -
Tafsir
26:87
يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ مَالٌۭ وَلَا بَنُونَ 88
The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children
Tafsir
26:88
إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى ٱللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍۢ سَلِيمٍۢ 89
But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart."
Tafsir
26:89
وَأُزْلِفَتِ ٱلْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ 90
And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous.
Tafsir
26:90
وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلْجَحِيمُ لِلْغَاوِينَ 91
And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators,
Tafsir
26:91
وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْبُدُونَ 92
And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship
Tafsir
26:92
مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ هَلْ يَنصُرُونَكُمْ أَوْ يَنتَصِرُونَ 93
Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?"
Tafsir
26:93
فَكُبْكِبُوا۟ فِيهَا هُمْ وَٱلْغَاوُۥنَ 94
So they will be overturned into Hellfire, they and the deviators
Tafsir
26:94
تَٱللَّهِ إِن كُنَّا لَفِى ضَلَٰلٍۢ مُّبِينٍ 97
"By Allah, we were indeed in manifest error
Tafsir
26:97
إِذْ نُسَوِّيكُم بِرَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ 98
When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds.
Tafsir
26:98
وَمَآ أَضَلَّنَآ إِلَّا ٱلْمُجْرِمُونَ 99
And no one misguided us except the criminals.
Tafsir
26:99
فَلَوْ أَنَّ لَنَا كَرَّةًۭ فَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ 102
Then if we only had a return [to the world] and could be of the believers... "
Tafsir
26:102
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ 103
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
Tafsir
26:103
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ 104
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
Tafsir
26:104
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ نُوحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ 106
When their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?
Tafsir
26:106
وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ 109
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
Tafsir
26:109
۞ قَالُوٓا۟ أَنُؤْمِنُ لَكَ وَٱتَّبَعَكَ ٱلْأَرْذَلُونَ 111
They said, "Should we believe you while you are followed by the lowest [class of people]?"
Tafsir
26:111
قَالَ وَمَا عِلْمِى بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَعْمَلُونَ 112
He said, "And what is my knowledge of what they used to do?
Tafsir
26:112
إِنْ حِسَابُهُمْ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّى ۖ لَوْ تَشْعُرُونَ 113
Their account is only upon my Lord, if you [could] perceive.
Tafsir
26:113
وَمَآ أَنَا۠ بِطَارِدِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ 114
And I am not one to drive away the believers.
Tafsir
26:114
قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَٰنُوحُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمَرْجُومِينَ 116
They said, "If you do not desist, O Noah, you will surely be of those who are stoned."
Tafsir
26:116
قَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ قَوْمِى كَذَّبُونِ 117
He said, "My Lord, indeed my people have denied me.
Tafsir
26:117
فَٱفْتَحْ بَيْنِى وَبَيْنَهُمْ فَتْحًۭا وَنَجِّنِى وَمَن مَّعِىَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ 118
Then judge between me and them with decisive judgement and save me and those with me of the believers."
Tafsir
26:118
فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ ٱلْمَشْحُونِ 119
So We saved him and those with him in the laden ship.
Tafsir
26:119
ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا بَعْدُ ٱلْبَاقِينَ 120
Then We drowned thereafter the remaining ones.
Tafsir
26:120
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ 121
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
Tafsir
26:121
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ 122
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
Tafsir
26:122
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ هُودٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ 124
When their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?
Tafsir
26:124
وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ 127
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
Tafsir
26:127
أَتَبْنُونَ بِكُلِّ رِيعٍ ءَايَةًۭ تَعْبَثُونَ 128
Do you construct on every elevation a sign, amusing yourselves,
Tafsir
26:128
وَتَتَّخِذُونَ مَصَانِعَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَخْلُدُونَ 129
And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally?
Tafsir
26:129
وَإِذَا بَطَشْتُم بَطَشْتُمْ جَبَّارِينَ 130
And when you strike, you strike as tyrants.
Tafsir
26:130
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِىٓ أَمَدَّكُم بِمَا تَعْلَمُونَ 132
And fear He who provided you with that which you know,
Tafsir
26:132
أَمَدَّكُم بِأَنْعَٰمٍۢ وَبَنِينَ 133
Provided you with grazing livestock and children
Tafsir
26:133
إِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍۢ 135
Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day."
Tafsir
26:135
قَالُوا۟ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْنَآ أَوَعَظْتَ أَمْ لَمْ تَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْوَٰعِظِينَ 136
They said, "It is all the same to us whether you advise or are not of the advisors.
Tafsir
26:136
إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا خُلُقُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ 137
This is not but the custom of the former peoples,
Tafsir
26:137
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَهْلَكْنَٰهُمْ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ 139
And they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
Tafsir
26:139
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ 140
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
Tafsir
26:140
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ صَٰلِحٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ 142
When their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?
Tafsir
26:142
وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ 145
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
Tafsir
26:145
أَتُتْرَكُونَ فِى مَا هَٰهُنَآ ءَامِنِينَ 146
Will you be left in what is here, secure [from death],
Tafsir
26:146
وَزُرُوعٍۢ وَنَخْلٍۢ طَلْعُهَا هَضِيمٌۭ 148
And fields of crops and palm trees with softened fruit?
Tafsir
26:148
وَتَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ ٱلْجِبَالِ بُيُوتًۭا فَٰرِهِينَ 149
And you carve out of the mountains, homes, with skill.
Tafsir
26:149
وَلَا تُطِيعُوٓا۟ أَمْرَ ٱلْمُسْرِفِينَ 151
And do not obey the order of the transgressors,
Tafsir
26:151
ٱلَّذِينَ يُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ 152
Who cause corruption in the land and do not amend."
Tafsir
26:152
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ 153
They said, "You are only of those affected by magic.
Tafsir
26:153
مَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌۭ مِّثْلُنَا فَأْتِ بِـَٔايَةٍ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ 154
You are but a man like ourselves, so bring a sign, if you should be of the truthful."
Tafsir
26:154
قَالَ هَٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةٌۭ لَّهَا شِرْبٌۭ وَلَكُمْ شِرْبُ يَوْمٍۢ مَّعْلُومٍۢ 155
He said, "This is a she-camel. For her is a [time of] drink, and for you is a [time of] drink, [each] on a known day.
Tafsir
26:155
وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٍۢ فَيَأْخُذَكُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍۢ 156
And do not touch her with harm, lest you be seized by the punishment of a terrible day."
Tafsir
26:156
فَعَقَرُوهَا فَأَصْبَحُوا۟ نَٰدِمِينَ 157
But they hamstrung her and so became regretful.
Tafsir
26:157
فَأَخَذَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ ۗ إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ 158
And the punishment seized them. Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.

26:158
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ 159
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
Tafsir
26:159
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ أَخُوهُمْ لُوطٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ 161
When their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?
Tafsir
26:161
وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ 164
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
Tafsir
26:164
أَتَأْتُونَ ٱلذُّكْرَانَ مِنَ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ 165
Do you approach males among the worlds
Tafsir
26:165
وَتَذَرُونَ مَا خَلَقَ لَكُمْ رَبُّكُم مِّنْ أَزْوَٰجِكُم ۚ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ عَادُونَ 166
And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing."
Tafsir
26:166
قَالُوا۟ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ يَٰلُوطُ لَتَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلْمُخْرَجِينَ 167
They said, "If you do not desist, O Lot, you will surely be of those evicted."
Tafsir
26:167
قَالَ إِنِّى لِعَمَلِكُم مِّنَ ٱلْقَالِينَ 168
He said, "Indeed, I am, toward your deed, of those who detest [it].
Tafsir
26:168
رَبِّ نَجِّنِى وَأَهْلِى مِمَّا يَعْمَلُونَ 169
My Lord, save me and my family from [the consequence of] what they do."
Tafsir
26:169
إِلَّا عَجُوزًۭا فِى ٱلْغَٰبِرِينَ 171
Except an old woman among those who remained behind.
Tafsir
26:171
وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَرًۭا ۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ ٱلْمُنذَرِينَ 173
And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned.

26:173
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ 174
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
Tafsir
26:174
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ 175
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
Tafsir
26:175
كَذَّبَ أَصْحَٰبُ لْـَٔيْكَةِ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ 176
The companions of the thicket denied the messengers
Tafsir
26:176
إِذْ قَالَ لَهُمْ شُعَيْبٌ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ 177
When Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear Allah?
Tafsir
26:177
وَمَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ أَجْرٍ ۖ إِنْ أَجْرِىَ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ 180
And I do not ask you for it any payment. My payment is only from the Lord of the worlds.
Tafsir
26:180
۞ أَوْفُوا۟ ٱلْكَيْلَ وَلَا تَكُونُوا۟ مِنَ ٱلْمُخْسِرِينَ 181
Give full measure and do not be of those who cause loss.
Tafsir
26:181
وَلَا تَبْخَسُوا۟ ٱلنَّاسَ أَشْيَآءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ 183
And do not deprive people of their due and do not commit abuse on earth, spreading corruption.
Tafsir
26:183
وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱلَّذِى خَلَقَكُمْ وَٱلْجِبِلَّةَ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ 184
And fear He who created you and the former creation."
Tafsir
26:184
قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مِنَ ٱلْمُسَحَّرِينَ 185
They said, "You are only of those affected by magic.
Tafsir
26:185
وَمَآ أَنتَ إِلَّا بَشَرٌۭ مِّثْلُنَا وَإِن نَّظُنُّكَ لَمِنَ ٱلْكَٰذِبِينَ 186
You are but a man like ourselves, and indeed, we think you are among the liars.
Tafsir
26:186
فَأَسْقِطْ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفًۭا مِّنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ ٱلصَّٰدِقِينَ 187
So cause to fall upon us fragments of the sky, if you should be of the truthful."
Tafsir
26:187
قَالَ رَبِّىٓ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ 188
He said, "My Lord is most knowing of what you do."
Tafsir
26:188
فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَخَذَهُمْ عَذَابُ يَوْمِ ٱلظُّلَّةِ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍ 189
And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day.
Tafsir
26:189
إِنَّ فِى ذَٰلِكَ لَءَايَةًۭ ۖ وَمَا كَانَ أَكْثَرُهُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ 190
Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers.
Tafsir
26:190
وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَهُوَ ٱلْعَزِيزُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ 191
And indeed, your Lord - He is the Exalted in Might, the Merciful.
Tafsir
26:191
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَتَنزِيلُ رَبِّ ٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ 192
And indeed, the Qur'an is the revelation of the Lord of the worlds.
Tafsir
26:192
عَلَىٰ قَلْبِكَ لِتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُنذِرِينَ 194
Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners -
Tafsir
26:194
وَإِنَّهُۥ لَفِى زُبُرِ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ 196
And indeed, it is [mentioned] in the scriptures of former peoples.
Tafsir
26:196
أَوَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُمْ ءَايَةً أَن يَعْلَمَهُۥ عُلَمَٰٓؤُا۟ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ 197
And has it not been a sign to them that it is recognized by the scholars of the Children of Israel?
Tafsir
26:197
وَلَوْ نَزَّلْنَٰهُ عَلَىٰ بَعْضِ ٱلْأَعْجَمِينَ 198
And even if We had revealed it to one among the foreigners
Tafsir
26:198
فَقَرَأَهُۥ عَلَيْهِم مَّا كَانُوا۟ بِهِۦ مُؤْمِنِينَ 199
And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it.
Tafsir
26:199
كَذَٰلِكَ سَلَكْنَٰهُ فِى قُلُوبِ ٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ 200
Thus have We inserted disbelief into the hearts of the criminals.
Tafsir
26:200
لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰ يَرَوُا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ ٱلْأَلِيمَ 201
They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment.
Tafsir
26:201
فَيَأْتِيَهُم بَغْتَةًۭ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ 202
And it will come to them suddenly while they perceive [it] not.
Tafsir
26:202
أَفَرَءَيْتَ إِن مَّتَّعْنَٰهُمْ سِنِينَ 205
Then have you considered if We gave them enjoyment for years
Tafsir
26:205
ثُمَّ جَآءَهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُوعَدُونَ 206
And then there came to them that which they were promised?
Tafsir
26:206
مَآ أَغْنَىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُوا۟ يُمَتَّعُونَ 207
They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided.
Tafsir
26:207
وَمَآ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ إِلَّا لَهَا مُنذِرُونَ 208
And We did not destroy any city except that it had warners
Tafsir
26:208
وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ 210
And the devils have not brought the revelation down.
Tafsir
26:210
وَمَا يَنۢبَغِى لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ 211
It is not allowable for them, nor would they be able.
Tafsir
26:211
إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ ٱلسَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ 212
Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed.
Tafsir
26:212
فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ ٱللَّهِ إِلَٰهًا ءَاخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُعَذَّبِينَ 213
So do not invoke with Allah another deity and [thus] be among the punished.
Tafsir
26:213
وَأَنذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ ٱلْأَقْرَبِينَ 214
And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred.
Tafsir
26:214
وَٱخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ ٱتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ 215
And lower your wing to those who follow you of the believers.
Tafsir
26:215
فَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ فَقُلْ إِنِّى بَرِىٓءٌۭ مِّمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ 216
And if they disobey you, then say, "Indeed, I am disassociated from what you are doing."
Tafsir
26:216
وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى ٱلْعَزِيزِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ 217
And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful,
Tafsir
26:217
هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَن تَنَزَّلُ ٱلشَّيَٰطِينُ 221
Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend?
Tafsir
26:221
يُلْقُونَ ٱلسَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَٰذِبُونَ 223
They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars.
Tafsir
26:223
وَٱلشُّعَرَآءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ ٱلْغَاوُۥنَ 224
And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them;
Tafsir
26:224
أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهُمْ فِى كُلِّ وَادٍۢ يَهِيمُونَ 225
Do you not see that in every valley they roam
Tafsir
26:225
وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ 226
And that they say what they do not do? -
Tafsir
26:226
إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ وَعَمِلُوا۟ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَذَكَرُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ كَثِيرًۭا وَٱنتَصَرُوا۟ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا۟ ۗ وَسَيَعْلَمُ ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓا۟ أَىَّ مُنقَلَبٍۢ يَنقَلِبُونَ 227
Except those [poets] who believe and do righteous deeds and remember Allah often and defend [the Muslims] after they were wronged. And those who have wronged are going to know to what [kind of] return they will be returned.

26:227
